Welcome Week Recap

This week we kicked of the year strong with our Welcome Week! We had a wonderful time, as we gathered for Study Hall, Bible Study, Prayer Boards, and Karaoke throughout the week!

For our first Bible Study of the fall semester, we discussed the we see various names for God in the Bible, and the ways different names for God speak to the different characteristics and capabilities of God. We named some our favorite names for God, and even offered up some of our favorite scriptures with those names.

Wesley Foundation at Fisk students during the first Bible study of the semester.

Alongside that we talked about how God came to have so many names, and recognized the awesome fact that God has so many names because he has allowed us, God's beloved children to, name God at different times in history and in different encounters with God. It was wonderful time of learning and fellowship and of course food!

Along with Bible Study, one our favorite events of the week was making prayer boards! Students were able to craft their very own prayer boards to keep in their dorm rooms throughout the year. Students has complete creative control and came up with some awesome prayer board designs, including designs such as, favorite scripture references, spots for visitors to leave a prayer, and so much more!

We can't wait to hear the way God listens to and answers our students prayers over the course of the semester and the year!

As we close out this week, we are moving from celebrating to serving, for the next two weeks we will be collecting needs items on behalf of the Community Cares fellowship! We hope you will check back here to see how our first service project of the semester goes!
